Re: EnvisAlarm monitoring if Internet line cut
My border router (I have the cable modem in a kind of "bridging" mode and use my own router) has three interfaces. One is currently unused. I could put a cellular device on that third port and configure the router for failover to that if the cable connection goes Tango Uniform. I'd put rules on ...

Re: EnvisAlarm monitoring if Internet line cut
Thanks, interesting. I had assumed that all burglars would cut the line because it is so easy to do and takes away some of the time pressure during a robbery, with no drawbacks. If I were a burglar (which I am not), I would definitely do it :-). Yes, I have a big siren - 2 in fact. And a very short ...

Re: EnvisAlarm monitoring if Internet line cut
Nobody uses a wireless (cellular) "hotspot" device with their EnvisAlarm service? What happens when the Internet line is cut, which any burglar would be foolish not to do before breaking in? Seems to me the entire security system is useless without wireless connectivity, unless the Internet line is ...

EnvisAlarm monitoring if Internet line cut
Hello, I'm tempted to switch my DSC system over to EnvisAlarm IP monitoring (currently I'm using a DSC 3G3070 cellular module for monitoring). The problem is, a burglar could easily cut the Internet line, similar to cutting the phone line on non-IP-enabled systems. This is a showstopper for me ...

Re: Time not updated for DST
My time updated automatically today. Strange that it's a day late. You're right, I remember there were some back-end issues related to DST a year or two ago but as I recall, the last few time updates went smoothly.

Time not updated for DST
Hi, This morning my DSC panel with EV-3 installed did not automatically update its time for DST; it is still on standard time. I logged in to the EV-3 module's local Web interface and confirmed that the module time has not been updated, which explains why the panel time is also wrong. The switchover ...

Re: Envisalink 3 does not recover after network failure
Thanks, that sounds very similar to my setup except my DD-WRT router is a Cisco/Linksys E3000 and my switch is only 5 ports. The static vs. dynamic IP address could explain why your EnvisaLink recovered quickly while mine did not. I will try this.

Re: Envisalink 3 does not recover after network failure
My router is actually the packet capture device; it runs Linux-based DD-WRT firmware. I meant to say tcpdump in my last post, not Wireshark. The router is able to see any traffic between the EnvisaLink and the Internet.

Re: Envisalink 3 does not recover after network failure
Just wanted to add that my EV-3 came back online today exactly 24 hours after network connectivity was restored yesterday. It is now working fine and connected to the portal! :D Whatever the problem was, it seems related to a 24-hour timer from the time the network was restored. The only such timer ...

Re: Envisalink 3 does not recover after network failure
Thanks, I haven't opened my alarm panel yet to check the LEDs but I can see through the small holes in the chassis that there's at least 1 red blinking LED on the EnvisaLink, as is normal. It's still not working this morning. I will try resetting my switch tonight.
