Re: Get your syslog out

Another option - because just ran into exactly this - is to run a syslog forwarder on Windows. There's a lot of "free" syslog servers available for Windows, but they're usually crippled versions of other products. I found one that's completely free, very simple to set up and use, and has a...

Re: Get your syslog out

Another option would be a device that can NAT the raw IP traffic, without digesting it.

i.e., a relatively intelligent firewall. I did exactly this with a remote EVL4 and a Cisco ASA.

Re: Connecting the EnvisaLink 4 to my network

I did exactly this back when I had an EVL3. I'd still have it if I hadn't ended up running cabling to where my panel is located for other things.

I posted about it, too.

Re: New Feature Requests

EVL4 FEATURE REQUEST: Full 4-octet IP address for syslog

It's not necessarilylikely that the syslog server lives on the same subnet as the EVL4.

This seems trivial to add.

I've resorted to using NAT trickery to get around this limitation.

EVL3 syslog script for Vista

I spent a few hours today putting together a linux bash script that connects to my EVL3 (Vista 20P panel) and redirects the output to my syslog server (or to shell console). I've attached it here - feel free to use and modify. It's suitable for scheduling via crontab. The help text from 'evltpi.sh -...

Re: Advice on fire zone programming

When you fill out your monitoring form, just indicate that you want the house called first. It's that simple. I signed up this past spring, so there's no form for me to fill out now. I remember when filling it out, though, that it wasn't at all intuitive. I'm trying to figure out what the right cho...

Re: WiFi with EnvisaLink 3

Hi,

My router is connected to a UPS. I have FiOS, and my FiOS ONT has a battery back-up as well.

WiFi with EnvisaLink 3

Hi, I wanted to share my success with setting up my EL3 in my Vista20P (Safewatch Pro 3000) panel using WiFi. My panel is located in a place where running a Cat5 cable would be incredibly inconvenient - lots of drilling, fishing wire, etc. WiFi is a much easier choice. I used an old Linksys WAP54G r...

Advice on fire zone programming

Hi, Looking for the community's thoughts on the best way to program my 'fire' zone. I've got hardwired Kidde smokes, and I installed a relay module that I've hooked up to my Vista 20P (Safewatch Pro 3000) panel. I have an Envisalink 3, and I subscribe to Eyezon monitoring. The logical choice for thi...

Re: No alarms when bad things happen - EnvisaLink3 / Vista20

I think I figured out what's going on. I did a test today where I let the alarm run for a while after coming home, and eventually I did get an alarm via email/text. It appears that the SafeWatch Pro 3000 acts slightly differently than the Vista20P; it doesn't support a "no" dial delay. Bes...
