Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

The 5108A response seem to indicate the panel has been armed in stay mode.
671 says the function isn't available (maybe a response to the *8 to enter installer programming while armed).
652 says the partition has been armed, looks to be in stay mode.

Re: Multiple TPI connections?

If you've got a PC or MAC you keep running you can use this java app (from https://sites.google.com/site/mppsuite/downloads/dscserver-2) that provides a "fan out" function. It connects to the envisalink directly while exposing the envisalink API to any number of incoming API client connections. You ...

Re: Segmented network

I believe you need to change the password to something other than the default before the envisalink will accept connections from a different subnet.

Re: 2DS being pinged constantly on my Network

Public IPs are probed 24x7 by hackers looking for vulnerabilities, an unprotected port is a juicy target - like sugar water for hornets. The app provider should have warned you - perhaps post a review to warn others.

Re: Operational?

"Anything else" - the cable? I'd be tempted to move the router closer to the panel (even if it's not connected to the internet) and use a short cable to confirm whether the envisalink comes up and the router gives it an IP (Net will be lit and you'll see it in your router status). Or use a laptop ...

Re: Offline NTP time sync

Right, and the DSC panel doesn't access the internet so it could not access an NTP server. It runs an on board clock and timers. The envisalink uses that clock, which is why I suspect it doesn't need/use NTP. The TPI is the LAN/TCP based API interface to the DSC (or honeywell) panel that the ...

Re: Offline NTP time sync

My impression was the responders were puzzled by your request rather than hostile to changes. I confess I was puzzled too. As kman said, AFAIK the envisalink doesn't use NTP. Time comes from the panel, so you not only need to lose power but the DSC panel battery will need to have have drained. I ...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

Agree, the best choice is nothing exposed, especially not the admin panel (even though is SSL capable I still use a VPN to get in). Right, outgoing is a big concern too. Most cloud devices are encrypted and I believe this includes envisalink, but I sure worry about the ownership and protection of ...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

WPA2 is hackable, but not causally and the hacker needs to be local... personally I'm not a high value target so I don't loose much sleep over it - seems like a criminal with that skill would have bigger fish to fry. Folks that port forward 4025 that need to be very cautious - I received a few ...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

Congrats, and very useful to know! I was thinking more of an inside job - someone configuring the device so it could be defeated later. Like a lone security guard running it overnight getting ready for a break in during the week after the jewels arrive. Clearly I've been watching too many movies ...
