If you can avoid it, I would not use a wireless bridge. Too many points of failure. Then again, if all you're using the Envisalink for is to remotely check on your house it should be fine. I haven't had any trouble. But I also haven't had a break-in here and still pay for alarm monitoring, so what ...

The alarm system manuals generally suggest 18 to 22 AWG, solid core. I have found that 22 AWG works better because it's more "flexible" and thus easier to work with. If your Envisalink is close to the alarm panel, wire gauge really doesn't matter so much. Your local home improvement stores probably ...

I have. iogear GWU627 ($25). For the power supply, I cut a mini USB cable (this is what the iogear uses) to get at the +5V/Ground wires (they are red and black). Connected those to a 10-14V to 5V DC-DC step-down from eBay ($10, current-logic.com has similar looking ones, not sure what brand mine is ...
