Re: Replacing a faulty EVL3 with a new EVL4

My alarm installer from 3 years ago has moved on to newer things so I will need to replace this myself. This is why I went to the trouble of leaning how to program my panel myself and did my own repairs/replacements/upgrades. Since my original alarm system was installed 26+ years ago: The original ...

Re: ELV-4 on WiFi

I did something similar when I first re-did our entire alarm system (same panel and keypad as the OP's) and added an EVL4. I used a spare NetGear 802.11a/n device operating in bridge mode. Worked just fine. Put the bridge on my $10 "travelling UPS." I later went and added a cable run, but ...

Syslog Bugs (And Enhancement Requests)

There are a couple bugs with the syslog feature The configuration only allows for IP addresses that are within the /24 network of the EVL4's IP address. It should accept any IP address one wishes to give it, or at least obey the network mask. If the network address changes (e.g.: network from 192.16...

Re: ANNOUNCE: EVL4EZ Syslog Client

The syslog client configuration appears to be broken by design. It's limiting the Server IP Address I can use to the /24 network within which the EVL4 is assigned, yet my network is a /16 and the syslog server lies outside that /24. I cannot use it this way. It ought to obey the netmask or allow the...

Re: Vista 20p: Locked out of panel, Error *29

That is called Keypad Lock-out (*188). You entered too many keystrokes within a short period of time so the panel thought it was being hacked so it locked the system out for 15 minutes. Thanks for the follow-up, GW. That's what I thought, too. But my wife insists that message showed up on her first...

Vista 20p: Locked out of panel, Error *29

G'day, Honeywell/Ademco Vista 20p. Eyez-On EnvisaLink-4 This morning we were made prisoners of our home. Keypad would yield only "User code error. Keys 0-9 locked" and, when I went to the page at EnvisaLink to see if "Recent Events" would yield any clue, I saw " Error: *29 P...

Re: EnvisAlarm monitoring if Internet line cut

No burglar is going to take the time cut your Internet connection before they break-in BTW. In the 20 years I've been in the business I've never heard of a residence (not commerical site) with a signed, buglary alarm system, have their phone-line cut before a break-in. I don't mean to contradict yo...

Re: EnvisAlarm Signup

Crikey, So with the LTE modem, do you just add it to your plan as another phone? How exactly are you charged? Thanks Yes, it was added to our existing plan as another line. We're with T-Mobile, but I used to administer the Verizon Wireless plan at work and wireless hotspots worked the same way. The...

Re: EnvisAlarm Signup

We've had EnvisAlarm for a year. In fact it just auto-renewed a couple days ago or so. It's worked flawlessly. The monitoring company has been very pleasant with which to work. I ameliorated any concerns about our alarm monitoring/reporting being dependent upon our Internet connection by adding a 2n...
