Bell Home Hub 1000

Post by Vette95 »

Just received my envisalink 4 and hooked up as described. I have a hub between the alarm panel and my bell router. It is showing lights on the port to the envisalink, but the NET & ONLINE light are not lit on the board.

I cannot even see the MAC of the envisalink in my router.

Any idea what might be the issue?

Thanks, Mike

Possible things to try:

1. Try a different Ethernet Cable.

2. Try rebooting your Router & Hub?

3. Remove your Hub from the equation by connecting the EnvisaLink 4 directly to your Router and rebooting Router.

4. Try another Router if you have one available.

I'm going to guess you mean you have an Ethernet switch in ihe mix, rather than a hub? People don't often use hubs any more.

Anyway: I'm going to guess your "bell router" means your Internet Service Provider's cable modem & router? Bell Canada, by chance? I'm going to further guess that device is responsible for issuing IP addresses to connected devices? Is it possible you have a device limit and you're exceeding it? Either way: If you have link status indicators but the Envisilink device isn't coming up, I would suspect it's not able to get an IP address.

The Envisalink 4 is very simple to debug as each LED represents a critical operational element. No NET LED means your router is either not connected to the Envisalink, or it is not giving out an IP address.

Start by hooking up the Envisalink to the router directly instead of using the switch. If that works you know the issue is with the switch. Also check to make sure you have a LINK LED on both the Envisalink and router are both on. The Cable might have one pair OK, and the other damaged.
