Hi,
does anyone know whether will envisalink work with private IP range from the network provider, e.g. they called it the carrier NAT.
I intend to provide internet connectivity using mobile (4G-LTE) connectivity and my mobile provider assigned private IP instead of public to the mobile device. Will envisalink work in this case? I understand that for remote access to a device, typically public IP address is required.
Mobile data connectivity with private IP rage.

Eventually your mobile connection must NAT to a routable address. RFC1918 addresses are not routable. ("Routable," in this context, means that ISPs, etc. will route it, not that it literally cannot be routed.) So the address your provider says they're assigning you is simply the private (LAN) address, not the address the Internet "sees."
Hook something with a web browser to it and hit any one of the many "what's my IP" web pages. See what IP address they report. (May be dynamic, with who knows what for a lease time, so that address may change.)

Yes, this is how 99.99% of users are configured. The Envisalink does not need dedicated public IP address for remote access.jinc17 wrote:Hi,

Sorry, just so that I understand you fully. So do you mean that if my internet connection is using private NATed IP address, will it still work? I don't have dedicated public IP nor dynamic public IP. My connection uses private NATed IP from the provider. Thanks in advance.GrandWizard wrote:Yes, this is how 99.99% of users are configured. Yes it will work. I can't imagine anyone who isn't behind a NAT router.
In the end you will have a public IP address, it will just be shared by thousands of other customers of your carrier. That is how NAT works.
