Arm Disables Siren

Post by chriva »

I am testing the features of the 2DS. I armed the system remotely using the mobile page, and then tried to see what alerts I would receive, but in doing so, the alarm's siren did not sound.

I did receive alerts via email though.

I then armed the system from the unit's own control keypad, and proceeded with the same steps.

This time, the siren did work.

My question is, when the system is armed remotely using the 2DS, does that disable the siren, or is there something I need to set, or am I arming it incorrectly?

Thanks in advance.

That's a feature you setup in programming on the panel itself; nothing to do with the 2DS You can have that feature set to ON or OFF depending on user #, and /or by partition as well. If it is NOT the default for the partition, and you arm without code from the 2DS, you won't hear the siren. Do you have the DLS software? That's the easiest way to program the panel and setup those features.

I don't have the DLS software, but is that something that can be programmed with the keypad?

Yes, it can be as well. You can also download the DLS IV software from the DSC site. You only need to register and login to the download /installer section. DLS give you a visual of the entire system.
