DSC: Zone 30 Alarm?

Post by Gunnarsson_Sweden »

Hi!

I just bought the EVL-4 for my DSC PC1580/PC1575 and I love it. I have some small things to work out but the most important are working fine. But I need help. Every time I arm the system I get an alarm. "Zone 30 Alarm". I don't have a zone 30. Its only 1-6. The only thing I have extra is an 2-wire smoke sensor on PGM2. I tried to disconnect it but with the same result. I also tried to do a factory reset but no luck.
Can someone please help me?

Best regards from Sweden

Sorry for the delay on this one, but none of us had heard of a 1580. We asked DSC tech support and they came back and said that that panel was a special short-run panel for "cost-sensitive markets", typically eastern Europe. In order to wring every last cent out of the product they had to economize on memory and re-used many of the event codes used by the standard 32-64 zone panels (the 1580 is a fixed 6 zone panel for readers not familiar with it). So it looks like Zone 30 Alarm on most panels is actually a closing report on yours.

I just asked an engineer at Envisacor and he said that they are aware of the existence of the 1580 but it is not supported as it is a non-standard power-series product. He said there are other one-off panels that DSC made for specific customers in Latin America, eastern Europe, and Australasia that have been similarily "lobotomized" in order to save cost.

So it seems you will either have to live with the panel issuing incorrect notifications or uprade to somethling like a PC1616. With only 6 zones on your system that would take minutes to reprogram.

Thank you for taking the time and finding out why I had this problem! Finally I can stop my googling on this subject :)
My alarm (and I think all DSC products in Sweden/Scandinavia) is rebranded as Teletec. I bought it 15 year ago so I've gotten my moneys worth out of it. I'll start looking for a replacement board, but it seems to be working fine otherwise. I've got it integrated with my smart home system via the syslog client.
Its consistent and that I can work with :ugeek:

Edit: Just bought a PC1832 :D

Greetings from Sweden.
