Disable DSC 1864 Phone Line

Post by jlthla »

So my DSC 1864 panel's modem decided to go belly up.  It's dialing out, but not communicating/handshaking with the Monitoring station. I have an Envislink 4 module installed for my Home Automation system, and am getting notices thru that module, so I decided to switch monitoring to EyesOn.  Cheaper and I don't have to pay to have my alarm panel replaced.

My issue is that I still have a Trouble light on the panel, as it can't dial out(phone line disconnected) and can't communicate. I've powered down the panel, but the light comes back on after a few minutes. I've tried to disable dialing, disabling the phone line, and disable the periodic testing, but again, not sure I have the right installer code as pressing *85555 doesn't really show anything on my display. All I get is a long beep. The whole panel just goes blank.. no lights, no text, nothing, so not at all sure I'm actually changing anything. My installer did give me the code he uses as an installer code but I get the same blank display when I enter *85555.

The code sequence I've been trying is *8555 015 7 ##

Not super worried about the trouble light, but WOULD like it to go away... and I'm just thinking that even if all the phone stuff is disabled, the trouble light might stay on anyway.

Any thoughts?

A long beep after entering *8 <intstaller code> means you have the wrong code.

5555 is the default installer code for newer DSC panels, if your installer gave you something different, use that instead.

Your should get 5 short beeps if the installer code is correct.

This is a big help. I do NOT have the right installer code. Neither the default code, or the one my installer gave me work. Neither do any of my usual 4 digit codes
