Envisalink EVL4 work with Visa 40 alarm system

Post by sfaught22 »

I have seen in a few places on the web that the EVL4 will not work with a Vista 40 alarm system and I also have noticed that the Vista 40 in not on the compatibility list. But, I have also seen on reviews that it will work on the Vista 40 alarm systems. My question is does anyone know the answer "Will the Envisalink EVL4 work with Vista 40 alarm system?" I have looked at other makers and models of systems that work like the Envisalink systems but they don't work quit like the Envisalink EVL4 system. I set this up for my parents at their cabin on a DSC and it has been the greatest thing for them. I really like what Envisalink has done and would love to install it on my Vista 40 alarm system. Anyone have any thoughts I look forward to hearing from you.

For the Envisalink to work with a Vista panel it must support addressable keypads and support external communicators. Unfortunately, the old Vista40 supports neither.

For about $50 you can always upgrade to a Vista20P.

When you say "For about $50 you can always upgrade to a Vista20P" are you referring to buy a new board and reprogram it? If I choose to go this route would you suggest Vista or DSC?

Yes, I meant buying a new panel. You should be able to re-use your keypads.

If you wanted to start new I would recommend a DSC 1616/1832/1864, re-using all of your hardwired sensors. They integrate a little better with the Eyezon service from a surveillance point of view. From an alarm notification point of view, DSC and Honeywell are the same.
