EVL4 security alert on Netgear Armor

Post by CoreyW »

With my new Netgear Orbi router, the Orbi Armor Security app every week gives me two warning messages about the EVL4: (1) the device is vulnerable to accepting unsecure protocols and services from cyber threats and (2) the device password is too simple or another weak password combination is already in use. I am on TYPE: EVL4 HW Version: 182. Do I have the latest update or are there any extra security settings to make the device more secure? This is the only item on my network with a security warning.

The Envisalink has a built-in HTTP webserver, I think that it what it is referring to. You should never expose the Envisalink to the public Internet so there is no risk there.

All communications between the Envisalink and the public Internet are fully encrypted.
