Rogers has cancelled its email-to-SMS service which is what we rely on to send free SMS messages to our customers. This change is permanent and they have telegraphed this for months. Even while every other carrier in North America offered this service as part of their monthly service fee, Rogers saw fit to charge an additional $5/month to its customers.
There is no work-around other than to use the PUSH notifications that come with the Eyezon app or use an email contact with PUSH notifcation alerts like Gmail.
This applies to Fido and Shaw cable as well.
With our partners, we are looking at providing an SMS short-code option on a cost-recovery basis, but this is still preliminary.
