Uno Hybrid Keypads Locked Up

Post by f11 »

Coincident with a recent update to the Envisalink_new integration in Home assistant (3rd party), my two keypads have "locked up". That is, they both show 12:00AM / OPEN / green READY LED, and the keys do absolutely nothing. In addition, the two keypads sound their chime every 2 seconds, endlessly. For hours. Don't ask.

The keypads are the DSC Model LCD-5501Z. The system was originally a DSC Powerseries 832, if that matters - that board was torn out and now sits forlorn on my workbench. There is still a DSC5132 RF unit up in my rafters attached to the keypad terminals, which I've never touched (presumedly to communicate with my two arm/disarm keychain FOBs).

When I sign into EyezOn website for my system, everything looks totally normal. I rebooted from the Actions button, but no change. I've powered down the UNO board, and removed the battery for three days, then hooked it up again. No change. I even bought a new back up battery, as my existing battery was installed in mid-2019, and perhaps was dying. No change. On the board, the LINK LED is blinking, so its obviously up and running, confirmed by the system's normal appearance on EyzOn's website. Just in case, I rebooted my network to ensure some other device wasn't grabbing the board's reserved IP. No IP problems found, and no change. My router shows data moving through the board.

I don't know how HA could possibly have "caused" this, but the timing is very suspicious. Perhaps I had a board failure that just happened at the same time as the HA upgrade. Perhaps the HA upgrade sent a corrupted instruction to the UNO and the board can't resolve or get around the problem. Whatever the case, I need to deal with this at the local level.

I've had this UNO Hybrid board installed for about a year, and its always just worked, from first power on. I've never seen the keypads so dead before. Has anyone ever had to deal with this before? Do I need to "reset" the keypads or something? Or reset the whole UNO board to factory settings?

The chiming is driving me nuts so the system is powered down all the time, until I have a couple hours to fight with it and endure the chiming, like this afternoon's snowstorm... OFF is not a great state for a security system to be in. I could pull the keypad wires from the terminal strip to silence them, but I'd rather solve the problem than just make it continue silently.

Any suggestions MOST welcome. If I can get access to the keypads again, I can probably figure out the rest. Thanks!

I would submit a tech support request from your Eyezon portal.

Ok, thanks. I thought I'd try here first, just in case its common and had a trivial fix. I guess, no such luck.
