EVL-3 and 2 DSC Keypads

Post by Brennos »

Hi

I am new to DIY and I just got an EVL-3 which I will be connecting to my DSC Power Series 5010. I have seen the installation instructions which seem straight forward. However, the house that I just bought has an in-law suite with it's own keypad. The in-law suite can be armed separate from the main house. Is there anything that I should be aware of when installing the EVL-3. I want to be able to arm the main house separate from the in-law suite. Thanks for any insight.

Each keypad and the related zones are in separate partitions in dsc terminology.

I'd suggest printing out the programming worksheets and go through your panel and fill out the paper copies, then how things are setup will probably make more sense when you look at the big picture.

Thanks for the reply. The partitions are already set up and I am wondering if I wire the EVL-3 into main panel and/or sub panel for other partition. I am new to this and still have a lot to learn. Thanks for any help.

You don't have to worry about it you can physically wire it to the keybus anywhere, what partition it sends codes for is just software and can be determined each time you enter a code/command.
