Wire gauge...

Hello,

Just gettting ready to install a EnvisaLink3 onto my DSC panel and wanted to ask the type and gauge wire I should use between the module and panel.

24-26ga - usual phone or network cable.

DSC manual states 22-18 gauge for keybus wiring.

That's sized for voltage drop on the worst case keypad distance which I believe is 1000ft, for a matter of inches inside the cabinet, pretty much anything is going to work.

hint - if you are really concerned about wire gauge on a long run or to something like the siren, use cat5 cable but treat a pair as a single wire and that effectively halves the losses.
