Extra charge for opening/closing, etc. reporting

Post by alarmie »

So everything has been fine with my Alarm monitoring company until I received notification that they want to charge me an extra $15 a month because they noticed that they are receiving all openings/closings, etc. notifications (supervisions) to their central server (via cellular). They claim this costs them extra and I need to stop the notifications or pay the $15 extra. I wanted to know what people's experience was with this? Is there a way to stop the notifications from being sent to them but not to the Eyez-on server? If not, can anyone recommend an alarm monitoring company that doesn't gouge you for this? I should add they want to charge this amount for just receiving this information, not even passing it on to me (which, of course, I get from Eyez-on). Totally pissed off right now, as I have been with them for years and now they want to nickel and dime me.

I have an Ademco VISTA 20P Panel and my Alarm Monitoring is through Alarm Relay. I have their ARIM device (not cellular) and I have not heard anything from them regarding the increase reporting. Their ARIM Device is simply a PAP2T-NA VOIP ATA connected to with two leads (telephone cable) to the phone ports and the Telco ports on the panel. The unit is registered to their Server in the Cloud (Amazon), which I guess pass the signals to their Central Station. I'm not sure what signals/events eventually makes it to their Monitoring Station from this Server.

Do you know if the Cellular signals are passed to a third party and then on to the Monitoring Company? The third party might be the one who wants to tack on a penalty fee, which the Monitoring Company want to pass-on to you. What Cellular Unit are you using? Who is the Monitoring Company?

Maybe you might want to look into Alarm Monitoring through the EnvisaLink 3.

Thank you for the response. It looks like there might be a solution by stopping certain signals from being sent out to the monitoring station, but not to me. Hopefully to be resolved soon.

So the problem is solved on the alarm monitoring side, but now I don't get emails when the alarm is armed or disarmed (probably because they had be turned off *65 and *66 below). I do, however, get email notifications when a door or window is opened or closed. I also don't get emails when the alarm is tripped off or reset (why, I am not sure - especially since the alarm monitoring company confirmed they still do). When I look at Eyez-On log, I can see when the alarm was tripped and reset (so why isn't it sending me an email)? I can't, however, see when the alarm was armed or disarmed (again, probably because of *65 and *66 being turned off).

I have an Ademco 20, and here is what they had me re-program:

*90 Event Logs, 15 (select all events)
*65 Open report code, ALL 0's
*66 Arm Away/Stay report, All 0's

From their end, they are happy, because they only get notified if there is some fault (low battery, etc) or the alarm trips off.

Any suggestions on what I can change to be able to see the arming and disarming of the system without a signal being sent to them? Their issue is the amount of arming and disarming is costing them extra $$.

I am not sure why they aren't seeing the reporting of doors and windows opening and closing, but they were seeing the arming and disarming. I think there is a simple solution to this..

Thanks

From the Eyez-On Portal:

Manage Contacts>>>Assign Devices (under the email Contact)>>>Modify:

**Alarms

**Alarm Restorals

Misc

Arms

Disarms

System Troubles

Installer Maintenance

Network Supervision/Line Cut

Zone Followers
Are the Alarms and Alarm Restorals Box checked? In my previous post, I asked you a number of questions and you fail to provide the information.

I think you know hat your options are:

1. Pay the $15 per month to your current Monitoring Company.

2. Switch to another Monitoring Company that wont charge you extra for the increase data to their Server

3. Monitor through EnvisAlarm (EnvisaLink 3).

4. I guess there is a fourth option which is to Self-Monitor through the EnvisaLink 3.
