Add camera system to Envisalink

Post by ehennen »

I have the Envisalink 3 and the Vista 20 system. Is there a simple web site or video I can access that explains how to add a security camera system to my setup, so I can view the cameras over the web?

I too have a Vista 20P and would be interested in any information on how to add cameras. I have installed several video surveillance systems but have no idea how to integrate with Vista or Eyez-on. Can you give us somewhere to start? Would the camera's be linked to the security system via the Vista 20p connections or Envisalink's TPI? Are they camera's just separate but with pointers on the web interface to the internal camera's web site?

We are working on a video for this... In the meantime...

Yes the cameras to use would be stand-alone IP cameras. Basically we act like a DynDNS service and stitch the cameras in at a "cloud" level.

You would follow the camera manufacturer's instructions for remote access. (which would include some port forwarding etc).

Once that is done and you verify that it is working with external access, then you run the Add Camera wizard in our portal. You can verify that it is working by typing the WAN address of your router with the port that you forwarded appended. ( i.e. http://10.10.10.10:8080 ) into your browser. If you get the cameras local interface then it is working. If you don't then re-check your port-forwarding.

If it is working then log into your EyezOn account and run the Add Camera wizard

If the camera is on the same network as the EnvisaLink then pick 'Internal (Same LAN)' otherwise pick 'External or Remote' if the camera is at a different location.

Select the camera type. If it is a Foscam some additional integration is available otherwise pick "Other"

Enter a friendly name for the camera. Whatever you want to call it. Enter the "outside" port on your router that the camera is listening on. i.e. the camera may be listening on port 80 inside your network but you might have forwarded port 8080 on the outside to it. You would list 8080 in our wizard.

If you have a Foscam then you would also put in your username/password for the camera at this point.

Is there a way for me to use this feature with HTTPS cameras/devices that are on the same LAN as my 2DS?

Since only the port number is entered to configure a camera/device on the same LAN as my 2DS, it appears this feature can only be used with HTTP cameras/devices (unless I'm missing something).

I'm still wondering if the "Camera" feature can be used with HTTPS cameras/devices that are on the same LAN as my 2DS?

Hi Bill

Meant to get back to you sooner on this. We are still looking at the best way since some cameras don't support https.

If you happen to have a static IP there is a quick fix. Just say the camera is "External" instead of "Internal". Then you will be prompted for the full URL. Just put in https at the front with your IP address : port and that would work. i.e. if your static IP was 10.10.10.10 and the port was 8080 just put this in the spot where it asks for the URL https://10.10.10.10:8080.

If you have a secure dynamic DNS service you could likely use this fix too.
