A couple of things. As I understand the IP100D can not be "firmware upgraded" to add new functionality outside of the EYEZ-ON web portal. Does the new IP170D have the ability to be firmware updated?
Does the 170D have the ability to send email directly from it and not thru the EYEZ-ON web portal?
I am primarily interested in using this product in a "local" only mode and would not plan on using the EYEZ-ON website.

The current IP170D is functionally identical to an IP100D. In other words you wouldn't see any difference between the two if you hooked both up with the exception of 2 things.
1. It is firmware upgradeable over the network so new features can be added to it remotely.
2. It has a hardware expansion port on it (EEP) so new (as of yet unannounced) hardware expansion modules can be attached to it.
We have not yet release any firmware upgrades for the IP170D as of yet. New functionality may include:
- Local API
- Direct Mobile App support
- Possibly some local alerting capability
- And several other very cool surprise features that we are keeping under wraps for the moment
