Text alerts
Hi, I am considering a purchase of an EnvisaLink 3, but am unclear on one feature.
I would like to receive text messages with alarm arm/disarm, but only for certain user codes. Is this possible? I have a friend with an alarm.com system and he can choose which user codes send activity via text.
Without this, I would get a lot of useless texts...hopefully there is a way to select.
Thanks,
David

Re: Text alerts
It is not possible to filter the arm/disarm texts through envisalerts based on the user's code. Though if you give them a call and request it these guys are great at listening to what users want and are adding features by the day.

Re: Text alerts
You're probably only the second person to ask about such a feature. We were told that "architecturally" this would be difficult. If you have a multi-unit dwelling you should consider the Connect2Go offering for professional installers as you will have more options on that side.
Re: Text alerts
Wizzard,
It would make sense to change your architecture of your notifications now rather then later. It would be benifical to you and to us as the end users giving us more control. You have to have it some what worked in already as you can recognize that User 03 is "Bob" and rewrite your events to reflect as such. I would like to see notifications be formatted more like how home automation"scenes" are set up. example
Notifications
You pick an Event
such as ARM/DISARM
You pick a Variable based on the event
Such as USER CODE
Then you would pick the contacts you wish to receive this notification.
Gives the end user a lot more control.

Re: Text alerts
Steve, that is exactly what I am thinking.
GrandWizard, this would be extremely helpful. I would be purchasing this item to monitor when people working in the house come in and out. I don't need to know when my wife, brother, or I arm or disarm the system. I would only be interested in getting notifications when the cleaning people or my kids arm or disarm the system. My wife is only interested in purchasing the EnvisaLink if she can know when the cleaning people come in or out, but she doesn't want to get texts for everyone else.
Please let me know if there is any possibility of adding this. As I mentioned, the system from Alarm.com does allow for this level of customization, so I know it is possible...just not sure if it can be implemented in the EnvisaLink.
Thanks!

Re: Text alerts
Browsing quickly through alarm.com it appears they don't support the full futured alarm panels such as DSC or Honeywell, do you already have an alarm system and are looking to add functionality to it?
Re: Text alerts
Steve, you are correct - alarm.com doesn't support DSC or Honeywell panels. I already have a DSC system and am looking to add functionality to it. I was just saying that the functionality exists, so it must be possible - just not sure if it can be implemented into the EnvisaLink or not.
Thanks,
David

Re: Text alerts
You could use the envislink with a third party program that uses the TPI to get the functionality you would want.
Re: Text alerts
That makes sense...do you know of any 3rd party apps that would allow arm/disarm notifications by specific user codes only?
Re: Text alerts
I dont have a dsc panel, but I would do a quick search theres 3 or 4 of them out there, I think your best luck would be the one made by mike, he has an app in the android app store I think its called DSC server or something like that. If you have a veralight home automation I know it plays nice with vera and you could probably do it through there as well.
