New Install triggers fault light

just installed the IP170 on a DSC 1832,

the alarm arm and disarms ok and i can remotely access it and arm and disarm

the problem is that since i installed the IP170 the fault light is on and also the keypad panel just displays --:--

no numbers or anything, the fault given when I input *2 is 8

any suggestions?

You have a Keybus Fault. Seeing that you can arm from your Envisalink module (IP170D), 99% you accidentally unhooked either the yellow, green, or both wires either at the Keypad or most likely, at your panel when you were connecting the IP170D.

Look there first.

thanks for the suggestions, I triple check the wires and still having the same issue, also is there suppose to be a red flashing light on the IP170 at all times, I do have that.

Yes, the OPER LED should be alternating ON/OFF every second for normal operation.

Whoa, sorry, I missed your comment that the LED 8 on the *2 was on, that means the panel lost time, that's all. You need to reprogram the time. Hence the --:--

You lost time if you remove AC and battery on the panel, which is normal when adding a new module.
