Notification for away when using wireless keyfob

Love the E3 I just installed on my DSC PC1616.

I purchased the E3 because I use a wireless keyfob in my car to arm/disarm the system, but its not bi-directional so I get no feedback that the system actually armed when I leave. Specifically the wireless keyfob is a Honeywell Code Encryptor 3 (http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsc/p ... 67103.html).

My problem is I only get a text message from the E3 that the system has armed after my seemingly ..LONG.. exit delay. By that time I'm way down the road. If the remote didn't work then I need to fumble with the mobile link to arm it while driving = Bad idea!

The disarm text message is almost instantaneous when I use it from my car outside.
(If it helps I get 2 messages on a disarm, "Special Opening" and "Opening by Keyswitch".)

Is there a way to set a notification to send when I arm the system at the beginning of the exit delay?

Exit delay is a state, not an event, so it is not reported as an Envisalert. This is the case on DSC systems. Honeywell seems to be a little different.

There may be a way of using a PGM to toggle a zone, but I'll leave that to the security experts on this forum to figure out.

Thanks for the reply. I tried setting the exit delay to zero (0) but it turns out DSC is trying to prevent false alarms and has a 45 second minimum. Thanks DSC..

I also looked at the "Exit Delay Termination" option which ends the exit delay immediately after a door opens and closes. This option is a little annoying because I have to arm the system, then open and close the garage door to end the exit delay.

This zone toggling sounds interesting.. Anyone have an idea?

Does your CE3 receiver have a relay (Form C) that can be triggered by the keyfob ? If so, just wire the comm and N/C points to a free zone on your DSC panel.
Program the zone just like your front or back door. ie. Delay 1 or Delay 2.
A second or two after you arm your system, trigger the relay. Set the relay to toggle or you will have to trigger twice.
This will simulate a door opening and closing - same as your garage door but a lot faster and less annoying.

Great News, but I still need advise! The CE3 (Code Encryptor 3) wireless keyfob receiver comes with a From C relay and an output specifically designed to toggle an Entry/Exit zone (Gray wire = 500ma (-) momentary output). I'm using the relay for my garage door, so I hooked up the CE3 momentary output wire to my DSC PK5508 keypad P/Z (zone) input. Now comes my problem. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. When I enable the new zone, it acts as if the zone is open.

Here is what I think may be wrong..but it may be anything as I am new to this
1) You cannot hook up a 500ma (-) output to a PZ keypad input and expect this to work.
2) I should assign the new keypad zone the same zone as my doors (zone 1) vs a new zone?
3) Wrong zone definition? I used the 01 Delay 1 for this new zone toggle (zone 12)

I will list the commands / steps I did below. Maybe someone has ideas.

Button 4 on your keyfob activates a secondary relay on your CE3 receiver. This is what you should be using as a trigger.
I assume the CE3 receiver is fairly close to your keypad in the garage, since you are programming the P/Z terminal.

The CE3 manual shows that the wire harness has three wires associated with the secondary Form C relay - you want to use the Blue/Green (N/C) and Brown (Comm). Run the wire to your keypad and terminate to the P/Z and BLK.

Kinda busy at work right now so I can't get into the details. Hope tis is enough to point you in the right direction.

I would like to keep the relay (button 4) for opening my garage door (which works great), but will go to that if this doesn't work.

The CE3 has another single wire output that is called momentary zone toggle (500mA (-)) that supposedly can toggle a zone with a quick push of button 1 (the arm button). A long push actually arms the system. This seems like the ideal solution. The black wire is also connected to the keypad as you suggest.

Do you think you can connect this wire to the P/Z zone input on the keypad?

Hi jerryrou,

The CE3 setup guide designates button 3 (channel 3) as the relay to be used for a garage door. This is because it only provides N/O and Comm connections - just like the button that comes with your garage door opener when you purchase it.
If you relocate the wires connected to your CE3 that trigger your garage door to this relay then you will free-up the other relay associated with button 4. This has a N/C contact required for the DSC panel to see the zone as secure.

In other words, use button 3 to trigger the garage door opener. The two wires on your CE3 harness are WHITE and RED/WHITE.

Use button 4 to emulate the opening and closing of entry/exit zone. The two wires on your CE3 harness are BLUE/GREEN and BROWN.

I'm definitely not a pro, but this should satisfy what you are trying to achieve. if anyone out there has some additional input, please feel free to chime in.

I like the idea and really appreciate you putting time.into my issue. I actually have 2 garage doors and use buttons 3 and 4 for each one. Thus I would love to figure out if I can get the button 1 zone toggle to work. I will try calling Honeywell and tell you if I get anywhere. If not I plan to try exactly what you describe.
