The company that I use for monitoring recently switched to allowing internet-based monitoring via the EVL3. That allowed me to dump my second phone line, which was pretty much exclusively for the alarm panel. But if that's not a concern to you, I don't see any significant reason to upgrade a 2DS, at the moment.
