Hi,
I would like to report a small bug in timezone and daylight savings handling that applies to the web portal as well as Auto-Time Updates.
I live in Eastern Europe (timezone EEST=UTC+3 in summer, EET=UTC+2 in winter). In September (when I bought my EnvisaLink3) I had set my timezone to "EETDST +03:00" in the eyez-on.com web portal. The EnvisaLink3 kept my security panel's (DSC Power832) clock nicely up to date, until the time came to switch from summer time to winter time. Even though forums and documentation suggested that changes related to daylight savings should happen automatically, this did not occur on the appropriate date. I had a pretty good guess why this was (or rather, was not) happening, and since the one-hour time difference did not bother me too much I decided to wait for a week to confirm my suspicions.
Turns out my hunch was apparently correct. This morning, sure enough, the clock had switched to correct winter time, and web portal's Account Settings page showed my timezone had updated to "EET +02:00".
Based on these observations I am therefore assuming that EnvisaLink does switch from summer to winter time, but it does so strictly based on the US schedule (first Sunday of November). However in Europe (EET / EEST timezones) the switch happens one week earlier (last Sunday of October). I'm assuming the same issue will crop up again in spring when time comes to switch to daylight savings time (second Sunday of March in USA, last Sunday of March in EU).
Therefore, could you please fix the code that does automatic timezone updates in web portal and/or the backend system, to do timezone/clock adjustments on the correct dates based on the user's configured time zone (or not at all, for those timezones which do not use DST)?
Thanks very much!
Regards,
Virgo

Re: Bug in handling time zones / daylight savings
Yes, we know. There will be a complete overhaul of timezones as we will be switching to UNIX locales for time localisation which should fix the DST switchover problems for all juristictions around the world that use DST.
Sorry

That's great, thanks for the info!
