Setup SmartPhone for SMS alerts

Post by twoeyedox »

I'm trying to setup my iPhone to give me a unique SMS alert tone that could wake me up at night. I know one can set up contacts as favorites so you can have it overide "leave me alone" settings and even unique SMS tones to help recognize the alert as an alarm message - hopefully one that would wake me up at night.

When an alarm text comes in the header has the format inside quotes "1 (210) 100-xxx" where xxx = the number of the message. This number increases by one each time.

Has anyone created a contact that works to wake them up when an alert comes in?

I have done something similar using emails. I set up a contact for noreply@eyezon.com and made it a VIP contact. In my case, it is the only contact that I have set as a VIP. I set a particular song (Flirtin' with Disaster by Molly Hatchet) as the alert for VIP contacts. I then set my Envisalinks to email me when an alarm occurs. Only alarms are set to generate emails so I don't get any nuisance emails when other activities, such as arming and disarming, take place. This seems to work well and has the advantage of playing a much longer alert than you get with test messages. I have an iPhone 5. If you have Android, there probably is an app that is similar to the VIP iPhone app.
