Anything that goes to your number gets billed to you.
Yeah, but they don't - I asked them. I would use a local carrier, but here in NZ, they are set up for business use only - high setup costs, high monthly fees, etc.

The other issue is that I want to be able to send SMS messages to my neighbor's phone while I am out of the country on holiday over Christmas. But I don't want him to have to pay. So I need to use a 3rd party SMS gateway and I'm not lying when I say they can only authenticate by the sender's email address.
We're in Canada. Go to the USA and hang a left.
Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't mean to confuse you with those wanna-be Canadians to the south of you. I know what it's like - most people confuse us Kiwis with Australians.

You might try the email forwarding work around I suggested if it works for you.

Unfortunately, this won't work.

When you set up a forwarding address, even if using a specific filter, as you suggest. The recipient has to click a link to approve forwarding.

No SMS gateway is going to do this. See THIS REFERENCE on the Google site.

This whole issue has been a lesson not to believe every feature advertised. Basically, Eyez-On can't send SMS messages via paid gateways and if I'd known this, I would never have bought the Envisalink3. It can email only, but the limitation that every message comes from the same address makes it incompatible with any 3rd party gateway I can find.

The moderators here say it is possible, but they can't list a single 3rd party SMS gateway that will work. Unless someone can prove to me that this can be done, I think Eyez-On need to stop advertising that their product can send SMS messages. It's misleading to consumers.

Here's my challenge - point me to one reputable SMS Gateway company that this will work with, and I will retract my statement.

I agree that forwarding is really not a great option, but I don't see why approving a forwarding address is an issue. When you add a new forwarding address it sends a confirmation link in an email. The recipient of the email(your phone) would just need to confirm that the email address is valid by going to the URL provided in the in the confirmation email.

Can you pls let me know if you have managed to get the SMS functions to work?

I am not in the US either and this is a dealbreaker for me in getting the Envisalink.

What this customer is referring to has nothing to do with living in the US. We're not a US company. Email-to-SMS gateways are available in all countries that distribute the Envisalink (Africa, Americas, Europe and Australasia). The issue arises when your mobile phone carrier decides not to support this feature. The vast majority of mobile phone carriers, world-wide, support email-to-SMS.

Hi Wizard

I am encountering the same problem as Bill now as in that my phone carrier actually provide this service for free (Up to 3 email to sms per day) but it needs to be set up with a confirmation email send back from the originating email address - noreply@eyezon.com. Even if this will be done by you if any other users are using the same phone carrier they will share in the 3 sms per day quota. This service is based on the senders email address and not the final cell phone number.

Is it not possible to send push notifications from your server to an App on my phone?

That will still cost you nothing?

Thx for the help.
