Hi there,
I currently have a DSC 5010 alarm system that is being monitored through a TL150 IP Communicator as well as a GSM backup. I am very happy with my alarm company, but very unhappy with the performance of the TL150. It frequently goes offline causing a line cut notification which results in the alarm company calling me as well as me having to log into the web interface to reboot the TL150 device as it usually does not reset itself. My alarm company has tested the device and according to them, DSC says the problem is being caused by my internet connection. They say the reliability of the connection is not good. What I don't understand is how that could be. The TL150 communicates on an intermittent basis so how could my internet connection be that bad that whenever it tries to make that communication, it is failing. I have a 25/10 connection with Teksavvy and have no perceptable internet connectivity problems and have been using the internet successfully at the very same moment the TP150 goes offline.
I am interested in the Envisalink as I would like to be able to access my alarm online as well as I will be starting a home automation project and want to be able to trigger off of alarm events.
1. Can the envisalink replace the TL150 (since it is not working well). Should my current alarm company be able to monitor my alarm through the Envisalink. I'd like to still have my current alarm company monitoring my alarm.
2. Given what I have described as the problem with the TL150, any thoughts on whether I will experience the same issue with the Envisalink.
Thanks,
Adam.

Re: Envisalink to replace DSC TL150?
Hi, the TL-150 and the Envisalink are not related other than they are made by the same company. I have been told by the manufacturer that the alarm reporting services are quite different from each other.
I can tell you that we don't experience anything like you mention with the Envisalink.
If you would like to use your existing alarm company instead of our own service you can do one of two things:
1) Get your alarm company to be a dealer (they may already be one) and ask them to install the Envisalink module for you.
2) For DIY's who don't want their alarm company to control their hardware we offer the Envisalerts+ service for a small monthly fee. With Envisalerts+ you can program your Envisalink to report to whichever alarm company you wish.
