Can't control relay

Post by xxsixshooter »

I've got my Ademco 4229 relay to change state by using my keypad and entering Code+#+7+01 but when I type that code into Custom in the arming dropdown box nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Ademco control strings are limited to 6 characters. I'm surprised the portal allowed you to enter more than that. This is a limitation in the panel as it only has a 6 character buffer. Much older panels are only 1 deep (read: useless).

Break your message up into two and it should work.

I believe that the firmware engineers have found a work-around for this limitation in next firmware release. I'm not sure what it is expanded to but on DSC systems I think you can send 16 characters in one string.

That seems to work, although no event shows up on screen to know whether it worked or not. I guess I could run it through a zone contact to see status.

Also, what is the command "Code" used for.

Thanks for the help.

I've wondered what Code meant too. I'm not really an Ademco guy and all I know is that is what it says on the actual ademco keypad. Maybe its to change user codes? You'd have to check your manual.

Yep! I see that now. It's used to assign additional user codes.
