So if I set to PDT, will it auto adjust for daylight savings in Spring and Autumn?
I assume not, and I'm concerned because I never used to have to worry about changing this through the portal in spring or fall, and although not hassle, its a regression in functionality.

Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work. Something happened in the transition to DST that caused some customers to moved to EDT instead of PDT, like yourself. We've always handled the DST changeover for our customers, that is why you've never had to do it.
