First Alert FA168CPS compatibility?

Post by purcellj »

I have a FA168CPS. I wasn't the original buyer. But after living with the system for a few years, it behaves like a Vista 10/15 (including programming commands).

I would like to add a EnvisaLink 3 to my system. Is it compatible?
Thanks

I honestly have no idea what it is. Maybe try a Honeywell forum and see if someone can tell you what it "really" is.

I have no experience with it either, but searching around makes me believe it is a 20P. Unless first alert does something strange to the board, I would guess that it is compatible.

Agreed it acts like a Vista. I've done some basic programming using a Vista 10/15 manual and the commands all worked the same. I also added a Honeywell 6160 keypad without any problems.

So I assume that the EnvisaLink would work without any problems, but was hoping for some quasi-official support/feedback.
Thanks

What you need to determine is whether it is a Vista P or a Vista SE. The Envisalink won't work with the older SE models. The key difference is whether the keypads and modules are addressable.

Take a look at your installers manual. Does it have Keypad sections like *190, 191, 192 etc?

You can also take a picture of it and send it to our support group. One of the Ademco gurus would be able to figure it out.

So I finally got around to playing with the system. After entering programming mode, I pressed #41 to verify the phone in the event the system is tripped. I then tried #190 and #191. The response was verifying Keypad address locations.

Is it fair to assume that it is compatible now?

Yep, that would indicate it's a P. The only "P" that doesn't work with the Envisalink is the 50P. But I doubt you have that.
