Envisalink 3 with Vista 15P alarm panel - wiring question.

Post by JFalc »

I have a wiring question re: this installation

I am trying to wire the EVL3 into my alarm system. I have a 15P and two Honeywell 5150 keypads

Because of the location of the alarm panel (15P) far away from where my internet network connections are, instead, I have ran a 4 wire alarm 22gauge cable from one of the Honeywell keypads to where I can plug in a network cable.

I believe I can hook up the EVL3 board to the same wire as the Honeywell 5150 keypad but I am not sure how..... Do I just plug 'two 4 strand wires each' into the Honeywell board so that each wiring connection on the keypad has two yellows/two black/two green and two reds going into them.(with one set going back to the panel and one going to the EVL board? or instead, do I run one 4 prong wire from the Honeywell keypad, and 'twist-join' with a 'cap' the three wires together (Honeywell keypad wire, wire to alarm panel, and the EVL wire)?

Which is the preferred method?

Will either of these work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Connecting them at the keypad is the cleanest solution. Just as you describe.

FYI, I did join all three sets of wires (four separate times), with four caps, and it worked great.

Then stuffed it all back into the wall behind the Keypad.

Seems to work.

Thanks,
