Post by billinaz »

Has anyone set this app up? The self test says it is communicating with my alarm panel, but it does not give me the arm/disarm button.

I got it working yesterday. I forwarded port 8080 to the internal IP address of the 2DS, entered the user ID, password and the arm/disarm code and ran the test. The app found the panel with no issue. It seems to only arm in stay mode, however. I wish you had the choice of stay or away arming.

I used the generic 'user' ID. I don't see any way to add another custom user. I did change the default password, however.

I've got it working, too. $4.99 seems a bit steep, but there's no competitive app, so I suppose the law of supply and demand applies. :)

I couldn't find any way to have a different username than "user," either. I'd love the ability to change that on the 2DS.

The zone naming in the app is nice.

Two drawbacks I could find. First, as previously mentioned, it only arms in Stay mode. A choice would be ideal, but if there has to be only one default, it should be Away mode, since most users will likely be using this app arming their system remotely (i.e. when they are "away").

Second, if you have more than one system (such as a primary residence and a vacation home), you're outta luck. You'd have to change the IP/Host, Port, Code, User, and/or Pwd - and none of the zones would match. I'd love to see support in this app for multiple systems (and I plan on emailing the author to ask for it).

Where this app REALLY comes in handy is testing zones during install or maintenance. It's great to walk around the house opening windows and doors to verify that the system sees them as OPEN or CLOSED (since they don't have LEDs like motion sensors do).

The app functionality is more along the lines of a $1.99 app, but again - it has no competitors, and I'm glad I have it.

I'm personally hoping to see more Android and iPhone apps coming out now that Envisacor has released the local API for beta testing. Any developer can now control/access their security system directly over IP using the Envisalink 2DS.
