General Questions

Post by ghosttown »

Hi there, I am currently new using the EnvisLink 3 with my DSC 1616 and everything is working great. However I am getting ready to register for the IP monitoring and I just have few questions about the portal. I signed up for Alert Plus to give me more options but not sure if its worth it, I have renamed all my zones correctly and added few user codes. I also enabled Zone following for couple zones and was just wondering what does it do exactly? Does it only notify you when the zone has been open and closed? I notice there is User Names and in there you type in a user number and a name, is this used for so when I call the Monitoring station I give them the user code and name to let them know if I want the system to be in testing or to let them know its a false alarm?

Everything you have described is available without the E+ service.

Zone followers are described in the FAQ

Zone, User, and Partition labels are just used for alerts. If you sign-up for monitoring there are separate forms that need to be filled out describing your users and special passwords etc.

I know had I knew that I didn't really need the E+ I would of not got it. Do you really know what the user names is actually used for then if that option is not used for the monitoring company?

So when you get an alert notification it says..

Opening by User Sally

instead of

Opening by User 5

That's all.
