Dialer
I have a Dialer installed, it only calls my neighbors cell and mine. I don't have shadowing turned on, my envisalink 3 is working perfect with it being off. In ones opinion will my Dialer continue to dial out when alarm is triggered? Can't remember but I think when I was setting up my module I had to turn shadowing off for everything to work.
Re: Dialer
Which dialer?
If the dialer is connected to the bell output for triggering then you should leave shadowing off.
Envisalink Shadowing is used only if you have another IP or cellular communicator attached to the keypad buss.

Re: Dialer
This is one question that I think is superfluous. The time it took you to start/write this thread, you could trigger the alarm and see what the outcome is. You could simply deactivate the number of the neighbor, temporarily, if you are concern about disturbing him/her with the test. Would you agree or is there some other issue that would prevent you from doing such a test?

Re: Dialer
The question was not "superfluous" I have my envisalink 3 set to send text with no delay, the Dialer will not dial out for 60 seconds... I do not want the alarm to sound for 60 seconds to find out which is the reason the non-superfluous question was ask hoping someone having knowledge of such could answer my question, and my neighbor would not care if his phone rang. My system is not located in a closet or another easy location for the thrif to find and there fore takes a little time to access the panel.
Was just meant to be a simple question for those in the know but I do think after waiting for a positive reply and after reading your reply I would have been able to access my panel and do what I needed to do. If you don't mind I would appreciate you over looking my post in the future.

Re: Dialer
You still should do a functional test to confirm that the dialer works as you believe it should. If that means setting off the alarm by violating a zone when armed AND waiting the full 60+ seconds to verify both numbers are called that's what you should do.
Re: Dialer
I'm surprised he did tell you to overlook his post in the future as he said I should do. I'm rather flabbergasted by his comment about not wanting the alarm to sound for "such an extended period" as 60 seconds (1 minute) and prefer to ask the generic question on a forum. Most, if not all, Alarm Monitoring Companies suggest that homeowners test their system Monthly by violating one or more Zones to make sure the proper alarm signals are received by their Monitoring Company (usually by informing their Company of the Test before hand). I'm still perplex by his comment about having access his Alarm Panel in order to violate a zone for the Test.
OP, if you don't mind, I would appreciate if you would over looking my comments in the future as it is quite apparent to me ( and maybe others) that your thought-process is severely limited....IMHO!!
