Hello. I am hoping someone can help me here. I am having troubles communicating with my new Envisalink 3. Here is my setup, problem description, and what I've tried...
I just installed the Envisalink 3 on a DSC 1616 panel that I've had in operation for about 6 years. I used 22 guage awg stranded 4 conductor wire to connect EVL3 to the DSC keybus panel. I have registered the EVL3 with eyezon.
EVL3 is wired straight to my router (no switch involved) with cat6 ethernet cable.
Modem/Router is a single device... Motorola NVG510 supplied by at&t when I subscribed to UVERSE internet.
These are the lights I am getting.
ACT - flashing red
OPER - flashing red
LINK - solid green
KEYB - flashing green about once per second
I understand that the KEYB flashing green indicates the EVL3 has no IP address.
But, in my router interface, the device list shows the Envisalink with an IP address assigned to the correct MAC address (as printed on the EVL3). However, it also reports the Envisalink as having a status of "off"
Pinging the address returns the message "Destination Host Unreachable"
I can't access the EVL3 via browser or from the remote access site
I have tested the Cat6 run with other devices, and they seem to work fine
I have tried powering down both router and DSC alarm system (uplugged and disconnected battery) then plugging router up first and waiting for a few minutes then powering up alarm system. I was hoping that would force the EVL3 to request a new IP address upon powering back up. But it remains the same (shows in router interface device list with same IP and status "off")
I saw another forum post where a user suggested his EVL3 wouldn't work with his gigabit router. He made it work by using an older router as a switch. I have tried that as well with no luck.
I also tried removing the EVL3 completely and re-stripped wires (even though they looked fine) and double checked all connections to make sure they were secure.
I don't know what to try to next. I've spent a lot time troubleshooting. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: EVL3 reports no ip address but shows in router interface
Try powering down your Router and then the Modem. Then after a few minutes, power up your Modem first and what completely synced to your ISP, power up your Router (Motorola NVG510 OR the "Older" unspecified Router). Does it work/accessible from your Browser? if not.......
You mentioned that you used an older Router as a Switch. Did you use that same "older Router" as a Router instead of a Switch and eliminate the Motorola NVG510 totally from the loop?
Do you currently subscribed to Cable Internet or to UVERSE internet (wasn't clear from your post? One way to figure out if it is a Router issue is to connect the EnvisaLink 3 directly to you Modem (without a Router Function). You will need to power cycle your Modem after connecting the EnvisaLink 3 directly to the Modem (if that is what you have in your current setup). If you get a IP address and you can access the ENV-3 when connecting through the "Older" Router or when connecting directly to a Cable Modem, then their is a Router issue with the Motorola NVG510.
I don't think this has anything to do with your setup, BUT, did you.....

In the first step if you have a DSC system make sure you select EnvisaLink 3 DSC
Re: EVL3 reports no ip address but shows in router interface
Thank you for your suggestions. To clarify my setup... the NVG510 is actually a single modem/router/voip device (I updated my original post to reflect that). At this point, I do wish that were not the case and I would do as you suggested... eliminate it and try my setup with the old router instead or hooking straight to a modem. Since it is both my modem and router, I am stuck having to deal with it. Actually, it has been a good device thus far. I have lots of client devices (apple tv, roku, amazon fire tv, direct tv receivers, tablets, iPhones, laptop etc) all using it with no issues.
Regarding the "old router", it is the popular Linksys WRT54G. I know it works correctly as a switch as I have tested it with a direct tv receiver. I don't really desire to use it in my setup, but I was just trying based on what the user in the other post experienced... just shooting in the dark really.
Your suggestions have me thinking... I suppose I could try to disable routing on the NVG510 and use it as a modem only... then hook up the Linksys WRT54G to serve as my router. I don't want to do that as my final setup but it might at least confirm if it is indeed the router functionality of the NVG510 not wanting to "play nice" with the EVL3. But, there must have been some successful communication between the two since the Envisalink shows up in the router's device list.
I am currently a UVERSE internet subscriber, and I've had it well over a year using the NVG510 they provided to me. And like I mentioned, I've connected lots of devices to it wired and wireless and they all worked fine.
Also, when I registered the device I did make sure to choose "Envisalink 3 DSC". I actually even tried twice. I deleted the device from the eyezon portal then added again.
Thanks again for replying. I am convinced I can make this work with the NVG510 and it's probably just some setting I need to adjust. But I have not (obviously) been able to figure it out. I might try what I said about disabling the routing capabilities on the NVG510 and using the linksys. I'd prefer not to but I don't know what else to try right now.

Re: EVL3 reports no ip address but shows in router interface
jimh or others,
Is there any update on resolution of this issue? I had an envisalink 2DS for 3-4 years and it had been working fine. I just switched to AT&T u-verse (interent+VOIP) from Comcast and had the same issue described by Jimh (IP connection is not even active on the local network). ATT gave me a router/gateway model Arris NVG589.
If I switch back to the Comcast Xfinity (modem Arris TG862G/CT) then it works fine. I currently have two internet ISP but will have to discontinue the Comcast in the next few days.
any help is appreciated.

Re: EVL3 reports no ip address but shows in router interface
Hi.
I installed one unit at work and the Envisalink did not like our HP Switches at all. I had to force the ports to be 10 Mbits for the module to work.
It's not funny, but it sure can happen.

wanz, I know this doesn't help you, but I wanted to reply. In my case, I ended up ordering another EVL3, and it worked right out of the box. Apparently, I just had a defective unit. I will say the tech support at eyez-on was excellent. Sorry I couldn't help more. I hope you can resolve your issue soon.
