configurable event wording in messages

Post by Bruno »

Hi,
I just installed my EnvisaLink yesterday and so far I'm very impressed with it. One thing that struct me as strange was the wording in the events I get. ex:

Security Event: Opening By User Code 2
Security Event: Stay Arming by User Code 2
Security Event: Zone 21 Alarm Restoral
Security Event: Zone 21 Alarm

You have to admit that its not a very user friendly message (whats "user code 2" mean). Having installed it myself I can do the conversion to their meanings but the rest of my family (who would also get the messages) do not.

I read in an old post (Jan 2015) that other users had concerns with the wording as well but Eyez-On was using exactly what was passed in from the alarm system and changing it would be problematic. It would be very nice to be able to configure the Eyez-On portal to convert these messages to something more user friendly (perhaps even a different language).

Any chance of that happening?

In your example, user code 2 is who armed/disarmed the system.

On a Honeywell system user code 1 is the "Installer" code which is default = 4112, and user code 2 is the "System Master" code which is default = 1234.

You probably missed the Envisalink primer which explains how to customise your labels.

See section 9 on labeling users, zones, and partitions.

Make sure you read this as it explains most things about your new module.

Yup thats mostly it. I had hoped to be able to configure the other portions of the events as well, but a configured user code, partition and zone label will help a lot.

Thanks.

There is an architectural change that is being worked on that will allow the alerts to be in other languages but there is no allowance for individual messages. Such a feature would be a huge undertaking from the database side of this as I am told.
