The Canadian mobile phone carrier, Telus, has been delaying transmission of SMS messages from our reporting servers in a anti-spam measure called throttling. They are delaying real-time alerts in a random fashion leading to delivery delays lasting minutes to hours. In some cases the delay is so long they are dropped for the messaging queue (> 24 hours).
We have contacted Telus on many occasions and have received nothing more than re-iteration of their policy that they have the right to limit text messages that originate outside their network.
Considering that there is no foreseeable end to this policy we are advising our customers not to rely on Telus SMS messaging for timely notification of Envisalerts.
A good workaround is to send your alerts to an intermediary mail server like Gmail, and then program the Gmail account to forward the message to Telus. When sending the Envisalert to Telus, use their email-to-SMS gateway format of
XXXXXXXXXX@msg.telus.com where XXXXXXXXXX is your 10 digit mobile phone number.

Suggestion: Could be a good idea for you to send an email to the Telus SMS address of your those with accounts sending alerts to Telus SMS with a link to this thread. That way, they would be aware of this 'problem' and not miss or have delayed events because they haven't checked the forum in a while.

Telus has stopped throttling SMS messages.

Cool, do you know if it has been solved for good (ie, Eyez-On and Telus got an agreement that Eyez-On isn't spamming) ?

No, not at all. Remember, they are not just blocking our company, they are blocking ALL companies. I think enough people complained and they changed their rules. This is just my opinion, I don't know the real reason.
