I just figured out after over a year I can access my EVL-3 locally! I'm terribly excited! How did I not know this before?
I found the very simple webserver the EVL-3 is running (against a Honeywell Vista panel). I saw mention (in the FAQ) that there is an API for talking to the EVL-3. Where is that? How can hook in to it?
I'd love to be able to control the alarm remotely by some other means than the envisalink site.
Thanks for any tips!

For $130 you can get a Honeywell VAM from Amazon. With that you get a very nice user interface to control your VISTA system local or remotely. In addition you get the ability to use Z-Wave switches to remotely control lights, thermostats door locks ect.
I use my EVL3 basically for text messages to monitor the alarm and as a backup to control the alarm.
Here's a link for the VAM http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_ ... Caps%2C169
To use the VAM remotely you have to open port 443 on your router. It's best to use a Dynamic DNS service if your internet provider doesn't offer a static IP option.

Re: I can access my Envisalink locally!?
That was exactly what I needed! Thanks for the help.
I glanced at the docs as was able to telnet to port 4025 and arm/disarm immediately. If there aren't already Python or Java modules to talk to this thing that would be fun to write. I'm hoping to hook it up to Open HAB (I have an Ademco panel)...

I think if you look you will find there is already on OpenHAB interface to the Envisalink. There is for most HA systems.

having issues connecting to Envisalink 4. I am able to connect thru the the website log in and it a put the IP address in it connects, but is I telnet in either with putty or telnet it fails. tired putty RAW and when asks for user name i put in the default and it fails. I would like to connect it to my smart things or something similar. Everything I have read is to make sure you can telnet in to see the card give status information.
