EnvisAlarm and Local 911 (PSAP) emergency number?

Post by matt1544@gmail.com »

Hi -

I have an envisalink 3 connected to a DCS panel. I'm interested in signing up for the "EnvisAlarm" service, however, i'm not sure how to get my local 911 number.

I did find the business number for my local PSAP (via http://ouc.dc.gov/page/911-emergency-services). I called them last week, but the somewhat unhelpful answer from the lady i spoke with was "Sorry, your alarm company should already have that. We don't give it out."

I live in Washington DC - is there some sort of master list that the alarm company may have already for major metro areas?

thanks
Matt

I ran into a similar issue, but with a little perseverance did manage to speak to someone (at the police department) who understood what I was asking. In my case it *wasn't* 911 but rather a dedicated (or at least separate) number available only to alarm companies (and probably related medical services).

You might also try calling 311 or contacting the individual who heads up that department.

There *does* appear to be some sort of listing available to many alarm companies, but consider that in your case it might be related to licensing to provide a service - if you're not licensed, you won't get the "secret handshake" (in this case the contact info).

Post back here if you sort it out for future DC residents.
