DLS?

Post by tristpost »

I find so much conflicting information about DLS 5 and EnvisaLink - can you fully explain the situation ? I.e. is it possible to use DSCs DLS 5 software with the EnvisaLink 4 or not :?:

I was under the impression that this was possible when ordering my DSC system and the EnvisaLink4 module and therefore did not buy any serial cable or similar but now when I want to try it I find no clear information... If it is possible please explain step by step what I need and how to do it?

Unfortunately Envisalink 4 DLS is only available to professional Connect2Go dealers under contract. Eyezon customers do not have access it for software licensing reasons. You don't need DLS to program your DSC system.

More confusion here.
Are there 2 separate products ? You mention EVL4-DLS is that a different a product from the EVL4's that we can buy at alarm dealers like Aartech or Amazon?

I have an EVL3 and DLS5. I want to get DLS5 operational to be able to backup programming. What do I need to buy ? The serial RS232 interface from DSC, or can I use an EVL4 that can do it?

I think most of us are aware you don't need DLS to program the panels, but keypad programming is painful.

Just buy the RS-232 cable. The EVL4 Eyezon Versions will not do DLS and the professional versions require the DLS5 machine to be on a different network than the target panel which makes it somewhat impractical for the DIY user.

Thank you for the clarification.

I gather you must know that there are many of us out here who desire this DLS functionality. I feel that buying the RS232 is going backwards. Add to that the fact that you have to make a physical connection to the panel each time you download. We are willing to buy the needed hardware. Do you anticipate offering us a version of the EVL that will support the DLS functionality ?

Is there any way you might know of that allows the RS232 to be available through the LAN? Something akin to an RS232 to TCP/IP adapter?

you need to get a TL-250 or the newer T-Link unit to connect to the panel via DLS5 ... can be on the same network these are the DSC modules designed by surgard
