PC1832 with 2DS No Alert for Loss of AC Power

Post by SparcEE »

Received my 2DS 2 days ago and love it...so much so plan to enroll in EnvisAlarm soon as I prove-out the system. Thus far everything I've tried works as described with quickly sending and logging alerts. I have every option checked to send me alerts for all activity with the panel as I test things out.

If I remove AC power from the system I get the system trouble alert on my house keypad and see that it detected the loss of power. However, I never see the 2DS log the event or send an alert. The interesting part is if I disconnect the alarm backup battery I get an alert for this and it's logged. So any ideas?

PC1832 Firmware version 4.23
2DS Firmware Version: 01.07.65

Thanks,

The default reporting delay for AC failure on an 1832 is 30 minutes. You can change this in section 377 "Communication Variables" to a value between 1-255 minutes. Consult your programming worksheets for my information.

Just an FYI, if your cable/FiOS modem and any switches/routers don't have backup power, don't expect to get an immediate notification you lose power to your house. Also, if your cable/FiOS is ever cut, your not going to get any notification if the panel can't send out the event to the monitoring company. These notifications will go into the memory of the unit which is still running on the backup battery and when the power resumes, it will send the event out.

Been through this and I can attest that if your just monitoring with ethernet, it's the same as voice if your on VoIP. Lose your connection to them and your not going to be notified promptly. I have cellular monitoring which even in the event of power loss or just ethernet/phone loss, I still get notified by the monitoring company because the system and GPRS module is still being powered by the panels backup battery.
