I'm in the process of testing out a new DSC PC1864 with an EVL3. I've got it set up to send me a text message on Alarms, Arms, Disarms, and have SMS Style w/o partition selected. I somewhat confused by the terminology that shows up in the text messages: opening, closing, partial closing. Maybe these are common alarm system terms, but being a novice they don't seem very intuitive to me. Is there somewhere that explains this? Should I have selected something other than SMS Style w/o partition selected? Thanks.

I switched the selection from SMS Style w/o partition to Full. I bypassed a zone, armed the system, opened and closed door as if exiting. Waited a while and open and closed door as if entering and entered my code. Here's what I got:

S: Security Event: Partial Closing
M: Security Event: Partial Closing
Location: MSCC
Time: 2014-04-16 16:01:29
Partition: 1

S: Security Event: Closing By User XXXX
M: Security Event: Closing By User XXXX
Location: MSCC
Time: 2014-04-16 16:01:44
Partition: 1

S: Security Event: Away Arm Mode
M: Security Event: Away Alarm Mode
Location: MSCC
Time: 2014-04-16 16:01:46
Partition: 1

S: Security Event: Opening By User XXXX
M: Security Event: Opening By User XXXX
Location: MSCC
Time: 2014-04-16 16:06:43
Partition: 1

What's S: & M: stand for?

Hi there,

where i live we cannot utilise the sms service as nothing is for free in Africa

I would suggest that the S means subject and the M is message, i only say this cause with the email service you get
2 lines of the same text and the 1 is in the subject line
