No Status Reports of Openings

Post by johnwgy »

I have just installed an Envisalink 3 with a DSC 1616 panel 4.6 connected to a DSC TR5164 all zones wireless. When observing my online status all zones show "closed" when triggered but I never get an "opened" status. Basically any time I open my door/window/etc I get a status of "closed" but never any status report of the door/etc closing. Am I supposed to get a status of the door/etc closing?

The status shows only shows the last reported or current status of each zone that reported. If you open a door or window and leave it open look at the status and you will see it listed as open.

When logged onto the web site you can view alarm events to see the opening and closed alarm event sequences by clicking on the "recent events" button.

I have had my system online for a week now. I have never had a status report of a zone being closed, just opened and I have had hundreds of status reports. Recent events on my system only shows arms, disarms, tampers, installer lead in's, etc ; never any zone actions.

You are confusing Events and Status. Events are things like Alarms, Openings (disarm), Closings (arm) etc.

Zone states, and partition states for that matter, are not events so they are shown on the Status page. There it only shows a zone as being OPEN, or CLOSED some time ago. Zone aging will tell you when the zone closed up to 78 hours in the past.

Yes I understand the difference between events and status what I don't understand is what is reported as status. As an example when I open a door I get a status as "closed" and that's the last report I ever see for that door. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to eventually see another status that tells me that the door has been shut.

I'm sorry, I'm just not getting what you're saying.

Can you submit a support request so I can see your account and get a better idea of what you're talking about?

Attached is a current view on MY status page. Its's a beautiful 70 degree day in Florida and I have some windows open, entry door open and Glas door closed at this time.

When I close the windows they will no longer show open but will show current status of closed.

Okay, I think I understand now. I had thought that the status operated basically like a log file of zone openings and closings where actually it is reporting real time status. I left a door open for a while and the status did in fact show the door open. Seeing as it's minus 40 here in Ontario I had never left a door open long enough to show open so all my status reports have shown closed.

I thought everyone from Ontario was down here in Florida. At least that's the way it seems looking at all the Ontario license plates.

Come on down. We still have room.

Weather is too cool for us Floridians but Canadians are loving the sun and beach.
