power line Ethernet adaptor - power failure

I am using a poweline adaptor for my system and it has been rock solid until a recent power failure. I am monitoring a vacation home and power outages are a common occurrence. Each time the power comes back on, the modem, router and connected devices all reboot and function normally.

That is until a recent power failure. The power was out for 26 hours and when the power came back on, the only device that isn't reporting is my Envisalink. I have it connected to a power line Ethernet adaptor and when I log into the router (remotely) it is not showing up as a connected device. I have tried rebooting the router but it didn't make any difference.

Will extended power outages cause powerline adaptors to do this? Is there a brand of powerline adaptor that is more reliable?

Have you been to the vacation home since the power failure to see exactly what did not come back up?

It may be that your alarm panel itself did not come back up after extended outage. If that is so then that's why you can't "see" the envisalink as a connected device.

Thanks for your response. My alarm system is centrally monitored and was on battery backup during the outage and reported normally when the power came back on. I have not been to the house since the power outage, so I need to trouble shoot remotely.

I know your frustration.

I go between 2 homes and each had an issue that could not be resolved, remotely requiring a 600 round trip drive.

Update - there was another power failure yesterday that lasted less than 5 minutes but it was enough to reset the powerline adapters. What was strange was that the EnvisaLink had stored all of the events that had occured in the last three weeks and sent them yesterday:

2015-03-02 12:35:32 - Special Closing- Partition 1

Is this normal in situation when the Envisalink goes offline?

Yes, events can't be disregarded just because of a power failure or network outage. The Envisalink will buffer up to 256 events.
