Hi -

I'm just now starting to play with an EnvisaLink 3 on a Vista-20p. I'm planning to installing in 10 locations - many of those locations do not currently have a panel at all.

I remember reading that there are some features not available when using the EL3 with Vista panels. If I have no specific preference, should I move forward with DSC panels and do they make available to most robust set of features of the EL3 and other things? If anything, it seems the EL3 installation is much easier on the DSC.

My panel systems are pretty simple, a couple of door switches, and a motion sensor and that is all. I do make use of the #17 and #18 outputs on the 20P to control my electric latch access system.

Generally the Envisalink is better suited to the DSC panels as there are certain small limitations in status with Honeywell panels. Knowing the state of interior zones while armed is a good example of something you can't do with Honeywell panels. Other features you can get only with DSC:

- automatic time updates
- Remote User Code programming (+ feature)
- Details of panel troubles
- Broad 3rd party support for the TPI. Limited with Honeywell

Not a big list, but something to consider.
