I am a non-technical person but I would like to install the EVL-3 into my security system. Some basic questions:
1. The main panel of my security system has a chip labeled: "WA20P-5.2". Am I correct in assuming that I have a Vista 20P system and that it will be compatible with the EVL-3?
2. Can I install the EVL-3 by wiring it directly to a keypad rather than to the main panel?
3. Is there a mounting enclosure or box that works well with the EVL-3 if it is not in the main panel?
4. Is there an ethernet to wifi bridge that works well with the EVL-3?
Thank you.

Re: EVL-3 Basic Compatability Questions
2. Yes.
3. Many different enclosures will work fine. With most radio shack locations closed, you'll probably need to order one online. Maybe something like this http://www.onlinecomponents.com/bud-ind ... csO3wQxtKy
Confirm board and box dimensions before ordering. I found this one by googleing "bud box."
4. Any ethernet bridge will work, but you should consider if you really want to do that. You'll have more components that could fail or wifi interference could prevent your alarm from getting through. Nothing beats the reliability of an Ethernet cable. The configuration isn't supported by eyez-on.

Re: EVL-3 Basic Compatability Questions
Thank you for the informative responses. Some more basic questions:
5. Will I need to put my system into programming mode in order to have it recognize the EVL-3 as an additional keypad with appropriate settings?
6. I tried to enter programming mode by entering on the keypad the default installer code found in the programming guide and then 800. Nothing happened. I tried pressing * and # at the same time and I triggered a silent alarm to the monitoring company. If I reboot the panel by powering down, powering back up and then quckly pressing * and # together, will I enter programming mode without triggering a silent alarm?
7. In order to power down the system, do I need to locate and unplug the power supply transformer or is there a way to do it safely from the main panel?

Re: EVL-3 Basic Compatability Questions
5. Yes. You'll need to enter programming mode to complete the instructions as detailed in the eyezon programming guide.
6. Yes. Probably. When you power down be sure to disconnect the backup battery as well. Look at the *88 program mode lockout options. Note that the panel could have been previously set to prevent *# reentry or to only allow the use of Compass for programming. Why don't you call the central staton and put the alarm in test mode before you start work to prevent unwanted alarms?
7. To power down and reboot you must disconnect both the backup battery power as well as the AC power from the transformer. Unplugging the transformer is usually the easiest and safest way to do this. You could disconnect the transformer wire from terminal 1 or 2, but it would be easy to make a mistake and cause a problem.
