EVL-3 and Comcast/Xfinity Motorola SBG6580 Modem/Router

Post by NonTech »

We switch ISP from AT&T U-Verse to Comcast/Xfinity service and the EnvisaLink is failing to get a IP address and does not show up on the Client DHCP List. The module worked perfect with U-verse, but seem to be having a problem with the Comcast Modem. What could be the cause of the EVL-3 not getting an IP address? Cannot remember if we gave the EnvisaLink a Static IP address when using U-verse Router. Both AT&T U-Verse and Comcast service is on the same subnet (192.168.001.XXX), so the static IP address should not present a problem.

What are some of the other potential issue(s) that might be preventing the EVL-3 from getting an IP address?

DNS Issue?
10BaseT full duplex issue?
Firewall Issue?

Anyone out there using this modem/Router Combo (Motorola SBG6580) with the EVL-3 and did you do anything to get this working properly? I should be able to connect my Laptop directly to the EnvisaLink 3 and be able to login to the EVL-3 and change the Static to DCHP if needed?

It could be that the envisalink has an ip assigned manually that could be used by another device on the old modem, I guess the easier thing will be to reset the envisalink and start again or login to the webgui and changing to dhcp
