2DS and DLS2002?

I see a very old forum message about a "future" product that would replace the IP170 and would be able to talk to DLS2002 over the network. Was this product the 2DS? Can the 2DS talk to DLS2002 somehow?
I'd love to be able to stop moving my desktop computer with the DLS installation (it's my only PC...) across the house to plug in that PC-Link cable!

I saw a beta of this working about two years ago, so it is obviously feasible. You can see that Envisacor has put a PC-LINK header on the '2DS (IP170D), but they are calling it an expansion port now. So I guess that's a solid "maybe in the future".

If this doesn't work for a while then an alternative is you could use a WIZnet IP to serial module (about $22) if you already have Ethernet going to the panel! I currently have one of these connected to my IT100 for my Home Automation controller and it works really well.
There's a windows virtual comport application for it also, and therefore you can use the DLS software with it.

I was going to say, one obvious approach, since the PC-link is just a serial interface, would be to plug the alarm panel's PC-link into the 2DS's identical connector, then extend the serial port over TCP from the 2DS itself. But I do not think that is the interface DLS2002 wants... also, I hear various things about DLS being very picky about serial port hardware, as if the protocol has funny (too tight) timings or wants to use the modem control signals or something along those lines.
It'd be *great* if the 2DS could actually speak the DLS network protocol. Heck, I'd pay the cost of the module all over again for that. It'd still be about the same cost as a (much less capable in other ways) T-Link.
Have you used the WIZnet with DLS? If it works, I'll buy one yesterday. Actually, for $22... maybe I'll just buy one and report back.

Hm, which Wiz module? I see several. I guess it would be easier to buy exactly what you're using.

Ideally any solution does not require the use of the PCLink port. The GSM/IP T-Link modules use it already.
I also wouldn't be thrilled with having to run three ethernet cables to the panel.

Why do you need to run 3?

Anything new on this topic? I'm a new user receiving a dsc 1832 and 2DS module any day now. I would much prefer programming the system on a PC instead of via the keypad.

Since my PC Link port on my panel is already being used by the GSM module, can I use the one on the 2DS and/or can I piggy back other devices off the PC Link port on the panel?
