Ethernet to Wifi Adapter

Are there any known issues using one of these adapters with EVL4?

Also, and maybe an even trickier question... Has anyone been able to successfully wire one of these wifi adapters to be powered by the security panel? Turns out I can't run an Ethernet cable under the house like I planned... So now I am required to find a way to network the security panel without running cable and with no outlet in the closet with the panel.

I've never used one of those. I have used one of these:
ASUS WL-330N 5-in-1 Wireless-N150 Mobile Router, but, not with an EVL4.
What I
did use, with my EVL-4, for a short while, was a NetGear WNHDE111 5 GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge. I've got one of those I use for some of my home theatre gear and one that's a backup, that I sometimes use to supply temporary wired connectivity to something I'm deploying or testing. I had my EVL-4 hooked to that, with a small UPS on it, until I got around to running a Cat. 5E connection from the computer room/office, over to the panel.
I would not try to power such a thing off the panel unless you really know what you're about with that kind of thing. (Voltage levels, current supply capability and requirements, proper wiring technique, etc.)
Mind you: If you do this: You're making core functionality of your alarm system dependent upon your WiFi components. I would never do that unless I was using commercial- or carrier-grade components throughout. (Which I am, but, most consumers do not.) Consumer-grade WiFi hardware is too undependable, in my opinion.

I just intalled EnvisaLink 4 in a DSC-1832 panel with a TP-Link Ethernet to Wifi adapter and it is working great.
The specific model I used is TL-WA850RE. The product advertises itself as a range extender, but it also can be configured as a network bridge (Ethernet-to-WiFi).

Another option that worked for me was to use an Ethernet to powerline adapter with an EVL-3. You'll need 2 adapters and power outlets, 1 of each near the Envisalink and 1 near the router. I used a Netgear but anyone should work.
