I recently installed a EVL-4EZ (EVL-4CG) on a DSC 1616. ADT originally installed this system and is still monitoring it (we now own the equipment). I may decide to stop the monitoring if I can get enough confidence in the system.
The installation went well and I can see status regarding my zones in my home via eyez-on so that looks fine.
The question is - what else can I do with this new capability? I'm looking for ways to monitor the system remotely and to arm and disarm the alarm. So far the status being provided is a good step in the right direction. I know there is a command line capability: Is there an easy reference for some of the key commands like ARM, DISARM? Basically, only used the alarm via the fob.
Will I have problems or restrictions with the EVL since I don't have the installer code?
Is there an API for the EVL?
Thanks in advance for any assistance on these newbie questions

You should have a look at the manual, link below.

For software developers there is an API called the TPI. Info on this is on the forum.
For DSC panels you don't need the installer code except if you want to ditch your phone line. In that case you would want to get into programming to turn off certain checks and to stop the panel form dialing out. ADT uses the same installer code in each service territory. With a little bit of "googling" you should figure it out.
